Short statement about the artist:
MITCHELL FREIFELD'S INTERESTS LIE IN THE SCENES OF THE CITY THAT WE TAKE FOR GRANTED. PLACES WE HAVE SEEN SO OFTEN THAT WE NO LONGER SEE THEIR UNIQUENESS AND ELEGANCE. IN THE FINAL COMPOSITION, IT IS NOT WHAT GETS CUT OUT OF THE SCENE, IT IS WHAT MAKES IT IN. THROUGH THESE MINIMALIST VIEWS, HIS GOAL IS TO REMIND THE VIEWER OF THE PICTURE TO APPRECIATE ONCE AGAIN THE PATHS AND PLACES THAT MAKE UP OUR EVERYDAY LIVES. FREIFELD HAS BEEN A FULL TIME PROFESSIONAL PAINTER FOR OVER 20 YEARS, CURRENTLY EXHIBITING IN THE RENTAL SALES GALLERY OF THE PORTLAND ART MUSEUM, THE FREED GALLERY IN LINCOLN CITY AND UGALLERY ON-LINE IN ADDITION TO THE BSG. HE'S A RECENT RECIPIENT OF A REGIONAL ARTS COUNCIL GRANT FOR A SERIES BASED ON PLACES THAT WE ARE LOOSING IN THE CURRENT WAVE OF RE-DEVELOPMENT.
